UTC South Durham is a University Technical College located in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. It opened in 2016 and caters for 14-19 year olds with a keen interest in pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering or maths.

Everything were introduced by our long-standing client University of Sunderland, who are a founding member of UTC South Durham. We have worked with UTC South Durham for a number of years now, creating recruitment campaigns, prospectuses, social media assets, advertisements, vehicle livery, signage, way finding and much more.

UTC South Durham covers

Ongoing recruitment of students and raising awareness is always a key focus for UTC South Durham as it is a relatively new school. Everything have supported the school with this in a number of ways, including the creation of vibrant and informative prospectuses for parents and potential students. We have also helped realise an ongoing advertising campaign focused around promoting events and open days where prospective students can visit the school (in person and virtually) and get a flavour for what a STEM focussed education could be like.

UTC South Durham are unique education provider in South Durham due to their focus on developing students in all areas of their education such as helping them improve their interpersonal skills and learn the expectations of the workplace. The school also has a strong project learning focus, much like what would be found in industry, ensuring the students leave with a good understanding of how their future role may operate. Everything has helped visualise this student learning journey with the design of the ‘Student Leaver Profile’, which we are now embedding into all designed materials in order to reinforce the ethos that professional development is as important as the grades students receive.

Contributing to the local community is a key focus for UTC South Durham. Throughout April 2020, UTC South Durham produced and donated 3,200 visors to key workers in hospitals, district and community nursing teams, in-home care and domiciliary organisations, GP surgeries, care homes, pharmacies and food banks. The funds raised to produced the visors was raised through a campaign called Stair Climb Challenge, urging people to run up and down stairs in their homes to reach the combined height of Ben Nevis, Snowdonia and Scafell. Thousands of pounds were donated which helped UTC South Durham to utilise their manufacturing facilities to provide front line staff and key workers with the equipment they needed to feel safe and continue their incredible efforts during the pandemic. Everything designed a number of materials that allowed UTC South Durham to thank their supporters and show the amazing impact the campaign had.
