Friendkit is a new, fun and innovative toolkit that helps people with learning disabilities make and keep friends.

Research shows that having friends and being involved in community life can help reduce the devastating effects of loneliness and isolation. Our client, Friends Action North East was looking to combat this issue through a bespoke training solution for people with learning disabilities.

Through a series of workshops, research and testing, Everything suggested creating a digital toolkit that can be purchased by healthcare professionals and organisations to facilitate workshops. The toolkit comes in five training programmes, each with a different key focus. ‘What is a Friend’ helps identify different types of friendships; ‘Goals & Barriers’ is about setting personal friendship goals via practical, achievable steps; ‘Plan B’ is about planning ahead and being prepared; ‘Social Interaction’ focusses on feeling more confident in new situations and getting guidance about social rules and ‘Solving Friendship Problems’ is about finding positive ways to deal with conflict in friendships.

Everything also created the brand identity which includes ‘brand mascots’, a bespoke typeface, printed materials, a website to be launched later this year and a board game which helps individuals prepare for real-life social situations.

Friendkit is due to launch later this year with the full case study to follow.
