Everything now proud sponsors of Shotton Colts Under 10’s
A winning team!
Everything are pleased to announce that we have become the shirt sponsor for Shotton Colts under 10’s Football Club.
We hope that our support helps nurture the talents and ambitions of young people in the County Durham community.
Both football and Shotton Colliery are two things close to our Creative Director, Mickey’s heart, and below discusses why.
“Coming from Shotton Colliery it is great to help out our young and aspiring football team. I played football from a very young age and was lucky enough to represent Durham County, Sunderland AFC, Hartlepool United and Doncaster Rovers youth sides as well as having England trials where I got to the last 44 players.
I continued playing for Crook Town under 18’s where we won the league, various cups including the County Cup and a tournament in Holland before playing non league football for Shotton Comrades.
I then decided to go to university to pursue something different and stopped playing at a competitive level but football has always been close to my heart. I remember when at the start of the season we would be given our new strips and how exciting it was and everyone here at Everything are thrilled that we can help out with Shotton Colts.
Grass roots football is important to the community in County Durham and after watching Shotton Colts play at the weekend, I was overjoyed at how facilities have changed to what I was used to at that age. Back in the day, all age groups played 11-a-side on a full size pitch in awful conditions, often without changing rooms but the tournament on Sunday 6 January at Northumbria University Coach Lane Campus (West) was very well ran on the latest 4G pitches with changing rooms, 7-a-side and on smaller pitches which allows the young players to really express themselves.
Also the level of coaching has improved dramatically. Chris Iley, Manager of Shotton Colts is not only one of my oldest friends but also a Level 2 coach with aspirations of gaining higher qualifications and you could tell by the standard of football on show that the younger generation are given much more opportunity to succeed. Every player has great technical ability and shows a real love and passion for the game, playing with smiles on their faces.
It is refreshing to help out in any way that we can and our support is to offer a huge thank you to all of those people in the past and future who give up their own time to help the kids play and train, taking them to matches across the region and sometimes further afield – it is amazing to give something back. Over the course of the season we want to help more and we will be giving regular updates on how the team get on each weekend on our social media pages.
Of course, Everything work with a lot of charities, third sector clients and social causes and by paying for the football strips and printing we are hoping that our sponsorship will be a huge victory to Shotton Colts.”
So how did the lads get on? We are happy to say that Shotton Colts came away from Newcastle Elite Academy Tournament as Shield winners. All of the squad played their hearts out, scoring some fantastic goals and only conceding two (and they shouldn’t have counted but let’s not get bitter). Well done Shotton Colts!
