Get Digital Scotland is a ground-breaking digital inclusion initiative aimed at strengthening the digital capabilities within Scotland’s homelessness sector by giving people experiencing homelessness access to the digital world.

The brand identity consists of ‘building blocks’ which symbolise the collaborative efforts of Scotland’s homelessness community, united in their mission to ‘build skills together’ with the goal of eradicating homelessness.

The visual language combines illustrated hands and objects, thoughtfully paired with tailored messaging, to create a powerful narrative. It is an invitation for audiences to actively engage, take ownership, and ‘grab the tools for success’.

The website serves as a vital resource hub for Get Digital Scotland. It not only outlines the project’s strategic objectives and vision but also encourages visitors to become actively involved and take meaningful action. While delivering on accessibility and user-friendliness, the website is designed to inspire and empower.

Get Connected is a Scotland-wide project giving people experiencing homelessness access to the digital world. Each participant received a free digital device and unlimited connectivity for 12 months. The project gave people instant, easy access at all times, and the support to build skills and confidence to get online.

Research from the University of West of Scotland shows that people who experience homelessness are among the most digitally excluded groups in our society. This is a severe disadvantage in life which has been exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic. Due to COVID-19 we rely even more heavily on digital for many daily activities: socialising with friends, managing finances and finding reliable information, engaging with health services, getting the latest news and accessing entertainment. Digital has never been so critical to our lives.

Thanks to Jamie, Wendy, Murray, Hannah and the rest of the Simon Community Scotland and Get Digital Scotland team. And a special thanks to Alan McDonald for the website build.
